Meet April!

April’s story started in one of the saddest ways imaginable. She was found abandoned alone in a ditch, tiny, malnourished, and struggling far too early in life. Thankfully, she was brought to a veterinary office where our rescue was able to step in and give her the second chance she deserved. Since then, this sweet girl has been slowly learning what safety, comfort, full meals, and love feel like.

Now at just 3.5 months old and a little over 20 pounds, April is thriving in her foster home. April looks much bigger in photos than she actually is in real life. In person, she’s still very much a gangly baby figuring out the world one pawstep at a time. She absolutely loves playing with the other puppies and has started discovering how fun life can be when you don’t have to worry about survival anymore. She can be a little shy at first, but underneath that timidness is a loving puppy simply searching for her person — someone patient and kind who will make her feel safe enough to fully bloom.

What April needs most is commitment. A family who understands that trust takes time, that puppies require patience, and that forever truly means forever. Sadly, black dogs are often overlooked in shelters and rescues, waiting longer for homes through no fault of their own. We are really hoping someone will look past statistics and see what we see — a special little girl who deserves to be cherished for the rest of her life.

Once submitted, we will reach out to approved applicants by phone. We may also suggest other amazing dogs in our care who could be a great fit for your home.

LOCATION & TRANSPORT:

This dog is currently in South Mississippi. Local and out-of-town adopters are welcome. For out of town adopters, we offer virtual meet-and-greets and can arrange transport to many states in the Northeast. (The $350 adoption fee includes transport to the city on this listing. Our transports run every 2-3 weeks to that location.) We cannot adopt to Rhode Island due to import restrictions.

VETTING:

All of our dogs are cleared by a licensed veterinarian for transport and arrive to their adopters spayed/neutered with age-appropriate vaccines completed and are microchipped. NOTE: We cannot guarantee breed mix or full grown size. Both are estimates based on physical characteristics and any known history.
