A very nice lady in South east Missouri found Birdie and her brother on Oct 2, running on a gravel road about a mile from her home. Dumped. So common in the area , and heartbreaking for these animals. One of their little group didnt make it, was hit by a car, but Cricket and Birdie were lucky and got scooped up. She then reached out to us to ask for help and we were able to bring them into rescue with the help of our wonderful foster homes.

She is settlining into her foster home well, getting along with the other dogs, and will be getting all vet needs met which will include spay, shots, microchip, and will be available in a few weeks, mid November.

you can apply at bassetandbeagle.org, her adoption fee is $400.

The Basset Hound is a unique and recognizable breed known for its long body, droopy ears, and soulful eyes. Originating from France, they were originally bred for hunting small game like rabbits due to their keen sense of smell and sturdy build. Despite their laid back and affectionate nature, Basset Hounds are also persistent and independent thinkers, which can make training a bit challenging. With their low energy levels and love for lounging, they make wonderful companion dogs for families seeking a loyal and easygoing pet.

The Beagle is a beloved breed known for its friendly nature, curious personality, and distinctive howl. These small to medium sized dogs are incredibly sociable and get along well with both humans and other pets. Beagles are curious and energetic, always eager to follow a scent with their incredible sense of smell, making them excellent hunting and tracking dogs. Their short coat is easy to maintain, and they are adaptable to various living environments, making them popular companions for families and individuals alike.
