Meet Jake!

This sweet boy is approx 9-10 yrs young, basset hound/engllish pringer spaniel mix who came to rescue with his sister Jane, after their elderly owner moved overseas and could not take them along.

Things to know about Jake:

*He is an excellant kisser

*He enjoys a good backyard wander

*Believes breakfast should be served on time

*Get along with other dogs

*Potty trained, kennel trained, leash trained

*Trusted to free roam with his canine companions while foster mom is away

Jake does great in the car and recently experienced what was possibly his first "pup cup" after his vet visit. While at the vet he was informed that he needs to lose a few pounds... he was not impressed by that...,

As part of his new diet plan, Jake has been introduced to green beans. Jake then informed his foster mom that green beans are no food. They are a personal insult! He has gone so far as to sit directly on them rather than eat them, which we admit is a pretty creative apparoach to avoiding veggies...

Jake does have glaucoma, which is currently being well managed with eye drops. HIs vet is happy with how he is doing, but he will need periodic eye-pressure checks to keep things on track.

He is also working on his fitness. At his current size , stairs can be challenging, although he can successfully navigate them if they are carpeted. We are confident with a bit of weigh loss and some continued excercise, Jake will soon have abs of a... well , perhaps not a superhero, but at least a respectable senior gentleman.

He loves to explore the backyard and going on short walks.

Jake is kennel trained, althought he would like to formally filew a complaint regarding the necessity of kennels in the first place. He also enjoys being brushed by his people, which is the closest thing he has had to a spay day!

While Jake is good with other dogs and kids, he would prefer a calmer canine roommate, rather than a high energy youngster who thinks every waking moment should be party time. Jake is more of a "let's take a leisurely stroll and then discuss our options" kind of guy.

At the end of the day, Jake is a sweet, funny senior boy whi is looking for a comfortable home where he can enjoy short walks, back yard adventures, gentle affection, and meals served promptly. Very promptly.
