Calling all Beagle-enthusiasts! Have you been searching for a floppy-eared friend? Then look no further. Let me introduce you to the amazing Gopher!
Gopher is a 3-month-old, 11lbs Beagle looking for his perfect family. Gopher is as sweet and as cute as they come. He is a very typical Beagle, which means he loves to be around people and there is no such thing as a stranger around him! Gopher is very friendly. He gets along well with men, women, kids, and other dogs and cats. Gopher is very much a puppy and will get in other dogs faces (with only loving and playful intentions), so another dog in the house would really benefit from slow and monitored introductions to Gopher. He is a sweet boy, who also thinks sharing is caring, so he is known to live by the mentality of "what's yours is mine," specifically when it comes to food. Currently, Gopher lives with a dog who is completely okay if he gets in their face, and a dog that is very much not okay with this, so he has experienced both ends of the spectrum. With some maturity and training, Gopher will be the best behaved dog!
Gopher loves to play, specifically in a fenced in backyard. Gopher's current favorite toy is a good ole' tennis ball, but he is willing to play with toys of all shapes and sizes. Gopher is doing a great job with fetch, and while he likes interactive playtime, he is also happy to play by himself. When it comes to play, Gopher is a well-rounded pup!
Gopher is a puppy, and specifically, Gopher is a Beagle puppy. He does pretty well on a leash, but he will sometimes just decide to stop walking, so he will need continued leash training. Gopher is not housetrained, but using the potty break rule (going out on hour per month of age), Gopher has made good progress. Gopher still typically has accidents during the day when his foster parents are at work, but he tries his best to hold it in. As for crate training, while Gopher is familiar with a crate, he does not like the crate. Gopher is known to be rambunctious in the crate, and he can be very loud. Like most Beagles, Gopher is a howler / barker and he hates being alone. Gopher will strive in a household that understands Beagles, and is willing to work on barking behaviors and separation anxiety. He truly is a sweet boy who just doesn't understand why he cannot hang out with his humans 24/7. It is also recommended that Gopher, for now, continues to be placed in a crate when no one is home. Gopher is a true hound dog, so he has been known to find things and get into places he shouldn't if he isn't being monitored.
Gopher is a puppy with a heart of gold. He has the cutest ears, and the biggest puppy dog eyes. He is eager to please, a generally good listener, and a playful pup who is looking for a family that can match his energy. If you have been looking for a friendly little hound dog to join your clan, then consider applying to adopt Gopher today!
Gopher is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. His adoption fee is $400.00.
To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
