DESCRIPTION

FOR INTROVERTS ONLY!!!

Are you a homebody? Would you rather stay home on a Friday night than go out? Does peopling completely exhaust you? Do you need time to warm up to new people and prefer to avoid awkward social interactions?

If you answered "HELL YES" to the questions above, then I have a dog who might just be your soulmate!

His name is Blink.

Sir Blinky Stinky Pants is an extreme introvert. And by extreme, I mean this little guy would be perfectly content to never leave the house again as long as he had someone he loved, a comfortable bed, snacks, and his collection of toys.

Blink is terrified of strangers and unfamiliar situations. He's not mean or aggressive toward people. He's just scared. At the veterinarian's office, he'll hide under a chair and hope nobody notices him. When someone new comes to the house, he will disappear into a self-appointed witness protection program until they leave.

But underneath all that fear is a sweet, happy, and playful little dog who just needs someone willing to let him be himself. He makes me laugh every single day!

I'm not looking for someone who wants to turn Blink into a social butterfly. He doesn't need trips to PetSmart, dog parks, festivals, or anywhere else with crowds of people. In fact, he'd prefer to be left out of those plans entirely.

With patience, love, and positive reinforcement training, Blink may eventually gain more confidence. But he might not. He may always be a shy little homebody, and whoever adopts him needs to be perfectly happy with that.

Blink loves other dogs, and a confident canine companion could be good for him. But there's one important consideration. Remember Joey from Friends? "JOEY DOESN'T SHARE FOOD!"

That's Blink. He's perfectly fine with humans touching his food, but another dog? Absolutely not. Blink has demonstrated food resource guarding toward other dogs, so he'll need to be fed separately and have an adopter who understands how to manage that safely.

He also enjoys collecting toys and is a bit of a hoarder. If there is a toy in the house, that toy now belongs to Blink. A house with little kids probably would not be a fit. He would enjoy playing with them and their toys. But the kids probably would not enjoy Blinky stealing their stuffies and performing a complete disembowelment on them. Sudden movements also sometimes scare him, and little kids are not known for sitting still.

Blink needs a secure environment because his instinct when frightened is to run and hide -- so a secure fenced yard is a must. We also think he has some kind of hound in his special blend, and we don't want his nose to lead him to far off places full of danger.

Most importantly, he needs someone kind, gentle, and patient who will respect his boundaries and be his safe place when the world feels overwhelming.

Blink is located at my rescue, Erin Regan Animal Sanctuary and Rescue, in Picayune, Mississippi, but we adopt out of state!

He is about 3 years old, has the most adorable stumpy little legs you will ever see, and weighs about 40 pounds. He is terrified of livestock and has not been cat tested.

Blink isn't an ideal candidate for our usual rescue transport, so I would need to bring him myself provided I can find a farm sitter. Please don't let distance stop you from applying if you feel Blink is your soul dog. If you are the perfect fit for him, I will find a way to get him to you. And, to be honest, driving Blink to the good, loving home he deserves is probably the only "vacation" I'll ever get.

Virtual "meet and greets" can be done via Facebook messenger for approved adopters.

Our adoption fees are even waived for the right home! If you think you could be Blink's forever family, we'd love to hear from you. Please note that we require veterinary references demonstrating excellent care for previous or current pets due to the long-distance adoption. Get ready to unlock a world of joy and love with Blink by your side!

ABOUT: BASSET HOUND DOG BREED

The Basset Hound is a unique and recognizable breed known for its long body, droopy ears, and soulful eyes. Originating from France, they were originally bred for hunting small game like rabbits due to their keen sense of smell and sturdy build. Despite their laid back and affectionate nature, Basset Hounds are also persistent and independent thinkers, which can make training a bit challenging. With their low energy levels and love for lounging, they make wonderful companion dogs for families seeking a loyal and easygoing pet.
