After eight long years at the end of a chain, Mariposa is finally free! And she will never be chained again.
We received so many wonderful name suggestions for this beautiful girl, but Mariposa just felt perfect. It means “butterfly” in Spanish, and it couldn't be more fitting for a girl who is finally getting the chance to spread her wings and discover the life she has always deserved. We call her Mari, and she already seems to be responding to her beautiful new name!
Understandably, Mari was scared when she first arrived, but it didn't take long for her sweet personality to begin shining through. Within just a few hours, she was exploring the yard, coming over for affection, and settling quietly into her crate on a soft bed in the comfort of the air conditioning. For a girl who spent so many years without the freedom and comfort every dog deserves, these little moments are beautiful reminders that she is learning what it means to be safe and loved.
Mari's journey is just beginning. She deserves a home where she will be cherished, protected, and treated as a beloved family member for the rest of her life. She has spent eight years waiting for her world to change. Now, we're hoping the next chapter brings her the one thing she has always deserved: a family of her own.

Mari is located in Mississippi and will be transported north once his adoption is finalized. Virtual meet and greets can be done via Zoom or Facebook messenger for approved adopters. We do NOT charge transport fees and our adoption fees are currently waived for the PERFECT home. Please note that due to long distance adoptions, we require veterinary references that demonstrate excellent care of previous/current pets.
