Charlize - Basset Hound and Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Cincinnati, Ohio

Come meet me and 100+ of my adoptable friends at Louie's Legacy Animal Rescue's MEGA adoption event, Home for the Holidays! Saturday, November 14th, 2026 at the Warren County Career Center from 11am - 3pm!

Meet Charlize!

An 11 month old, 25 pound Basset Hound with big ears and a bigger heart!

This sweet girl is a little shy when you first meet her, and she'll need some time to feel safe and learn to trust you. But once you've earned her trust, you'll discover a snuggly little sweetheart who loves being close to her people.

Charlie is still very much a puppy, which means she's always on the lookout for someone to play with or something to get into. Whether you have four legs or two, she'd love to convince you that playtime is the best time. She's got plenty of puppy energy, a playful spirit, and the characteristic hound curiosity - a trifecta that can sometimes get her into trouble. But she bats those big puppy dog eyes at you and you won't be able to stay mad for long.

Charlize came into rescue with her two brothers, Colin and Chadwick, and now she's ready to find a family of her very own.

If you have a little patience, a lot of love, and room in your heart for a shy girl who just needs someone to show her the world isn't so scary, Charlie might be your perfect match. Could you be the one to help her shine?

Charlize is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee $400.00.

To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt

All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.

For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.

We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

The Basset Hound is a unique and recognizable breed known for its long body, droopy ears, and soulful eyes. Originating from France, they were originally bred for hunting small game like rabbits due to their keen sense of smell and sturdy build. Despite their laid back and affectionate nature, Basset Hounds are also persistent and independent thinkers, which can make training a bit challenging. With their low energy levels and love for lounging, they make wonderful companion dogs for families seeking a loyal and easygoing pet.

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
