Scout is a 9-year-old PUREBRED Australian Shepherd who has been with our family for the past 8 years. We originally acquired him from an individual who could no longer keep him.
Scout was used as a stud dog and, because we had two males, he was kept separate from our other dogs. As a young dog, he lived inside the home, and for most of his adult life he has had a secure dog run with an indoor shelter. He is accustomed to this routine and is content with it.
Scout has never met a stranger. He genuinely loves everyone he encounters and has never shown aggression toward people or other animals. He has a calm, easygoing personality and very little seems to bother or rattle him.
We live in the country and take Scout out daily for exercise and playtime. His favorite activity is playing fetch. Typically, hell retrieve the ball three or four times before deciding hes had enough. At that point, hell happily return to his dog run, drop the ball, roll over for a belly rub, and then head back inside to wait for his favorite rewarda Milk-Bone treat.
Scout is not reactive to passing vehicles. If a car goes by, hell simply glance at it and continue whatever he was doing. He has never chased cars and shows very little interest in them. He also enjoys going for car rides and travels well.
Scout is a sweet, gentle, predictable companion who enjoys affection, simple routines, and spending time with his people.
