MEET RIVER — THE ULTIMATE VELCRO BOY!

If your idea of the perfect dog is a 40-pound red merle cuddlebug with a gorgeous full, fluffy tail, River may just be your guy! This incredibly sweet 3–4-year-old boy lives for being close to his people, soaking up affection and—most importantly—getting all the belly rubs he can convince you to give him.

River has been in foster care for about a month, and his wonderful personality continues to shine.

River's Resume:
Professional cuddler and certified Velcro boy
Knows sit and shake and is learning stay
Usually chooses belly rubs over toys, but he's starting to discover the fun of tossing stuffies into the air!
Sleeps quietly in his foster family's room at night
Has done great with crating
Gentle with his canine sister and shows no food aggression
Even allows his foster family to vacuum-brush him daily!
Has met several new people and dogs without issue

River is currently taken outside about every 31⁄2–4 hours and may be comfortable going even longer as his routine continues to develop.

Cats? So far, River seems mostly uninterested in them.
Deer? Well...those definitely get his attention!

After getting to know River, his foster family believes his happiest home will be one where he's allowed to be exactly what he wants to be—a devoted companion who stays close to his person.

A retired person or couple, someone who works or stays home much of the time, or a family with older children could be a wonderful match. His foster home does not have a fenced yard, so one is not currently a requirement based on his experience there, but River would likely enjoy having a safely fenced space where he could stretch those legs and run.

And an interesting little River fact: he has become especially attached to his foster dad. If Dad isn't available, Mom is apparently an acceptable substitute. River definitely knows who his person is and loves BIG.

River is recently neutered, up to date on vaccines, and receiving flea and tick prevention.

This very special boy has found himself in the wrong environment too many times, and we want his next move to be the one that lasts forever. River deserves someone who appreciates his affectionate, loyal nature and is ready to give him the security, companionship and love he's been looking for.
