Looking for a smart, fully house-trained companion?
Meet Brownie, a beautiful 3-to-4-year-old girl who is a pro at indoor living. Standing at 20 inches tall and 35 inches long, she is the perfect medium size for couch snuggling. Brownie already knows sit, lay down, bye-bye, get back, and let’s go potty. She is 100% house-trained and crate-trained, though she just needs a little patience and encouragement to go into her crate. On walks, she does best when you keep her leash short and structured.
Right now, Brownie is a beautifully low-key pup. She is currently finishing up heartworm treatment and taking medication to keep her calm, so she needs a quiet home where she can rest up and complete her recovery.
Brownie can live with children, but she plays rough at times and can scare little ones, though she has never broken skin. She also needs a family who will respect her boundaries around food; she must be kept separate from kids during mealtimes, and small children with snacks should always be closely supervised.
When it comes to other pets, Brownie is selective. She previously lived with a cat and a male dog. She listens well when told to "leave the cat alone," though she still likes to lay down and stare at them. Currently, she lives near a female dog and completely ignores her, showing no interest in making dog friends. Because she prefers to do her own thing, she would thrive best as an only pet, but can co-exist with others.
Brownie is a loving, smart girl who just needs a patient family to love her through her recovery and beyond. She is currently in another state and can be transported if we find her an approved adopter.

Most of our dogs are rescued from high-intake shelters or straight off the streets in South Texas, where packs of stray animals run loose. Your adoption fee directly covers the significant costs required to bring these dogs to safety. We are a registered non-profit rescue; any excess revenue goes directly toward treating animals with major medical needs who would otherwise be left behind and euthanized.
Your adoption fee fully covers:
Transport: Safe transport from Texas to our local foster homes (this cost alone is $200 to $230 per dog).
Vetting & Preventive Care: Spay or neuter surgery (if old enough), core vaccines, deworming, a heartworm test (if old enough), and a microchip.
VCA Medical Partnership: Every adoption includes a complimentary first exam at any participating VCA Animal Hospital within the first 14 days. VCA also provides a limited health guarantee (up to $250) for minor illnesses—like kennel cough or ear infections—diagnosed during that initial two-week window.
Important Rescue Policies
No Foster-to-Adopt Program: We do not offer a foster-to-adopt option. The majority of our dogs are already settled into loving local foster homes, and we aim to minimize unnecessary moves for their emotional well-being. Additionally, our rescue insurance policy strictly prohibits it.
Breed and Size Guarantees: We cannot guarantee the breed mix or adult size of any dog in our care. Listed breeds are our best guess based on physical traits and personality. Because our dogs are rescues with unknown histories, we cannot guarantee that a dog is not mixed with pit bull. This is a standard reality of adopting a rescue animal.
