Meet Brinley!

Brinley is a sweet, playful girl with a big personality and an even bigger heart! She is definitely a little “talkative” and has the cutest howl when she has something to say. If you’re looking for a dog who will keep you smiling, Brinley may be your girl!

She loves to play fetch and is always ready to bring you a ball or toy and drop it right at your feet for another round. She has a fun, silly, playful side, but when the day winds down, Brinley transforms into the ultimate cuddle bug. At night, she loves snuggling with her people and will happily curl up next to you — sometimes even falling asleep on her back with her belly up.

Brinley walks well on a leash, although she likes to take the lead and may need a little encouragement to stay with her person. She has also had professional training and knows her basic commands, including sit, lie down, stay, free, and leave it. She is very food motivated, which can be a wonderful tool for continued training. She can be a bit mischievous when left to her own devices, so her family will want to keep tempting items out of reach and make sure countertops aren't accessible when she's home alone.

When it comes to other dogs, Brinley can be a little reserved at first. She benefits from slow introductions and time to warm up. Giving her the opportunity to take things at her own pace helps her feel comfortable and confident.

She is also a good little travel buddy and doesn't mind car rides. Her only request? Wherever you're going, she wants to go with you! She isn't a fan of being dropped off somewhere and left behind, like at the groomer. She'd much rather be part of the adventure.

Brinley does have one simple medical need that her future family should be aware of. After being spayed, she developed occasional urinary incontinence, which is very well managed with a monthly medication called Proin. With her medication, she does not experience the urinary accidents associated with the condition. Proin is readily available through many pet pharmacies, including Chewy, and typically costs around $20–$25 per month, making it a simple and affordable part of her routine.

Most of all, Brinley is a loving, funny, affectionate girl who wants to be included in her family's life. She would love a family who will appreciate her playful personality, give her a little patience when she needs it, keep her engaged, and let her be the silly, cuddly girl she is.

Aussies are smart, loyal, and naturally wired to herd, so they may try to follow, circle, or “herd” children when they run or get excited. Some Aussies may also use their mouths or nip as part of this instinct and for that reason, we are looking for a home without young children. Interactions with young children outside of the home should be closely supervised, with separation when an adult cannot actively monitor them. With structure, boundaries, and positive training, Aussies can learn appropriate ways to interact with their little humans — they just sometimes think everyone is part of their flock!

Dreaming of Furever Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue that adopts cats and dogs from South Texas to the Pacific Northwest, Colorado, and the East Coast. The adoption process consists of an application, reference checks, phone interview, and video chat with the pet and foster parent!

The adoption fee of $800 includes spay/neuter, vaccines (rabies, DHPP, and Bordatella), microchip with free lifetime registration, deworming, transport, heartworm test, heartworm & flea prevention during the pet's time in our program as well as 2 free months of heartworm and flea prevention to be sent in their adoption packet!

We are volunteers with a passion to reduce the stray population and unnecessary euthanasia in South Texas. According to Shelter Animals Count, an almost 100,000 cats and dogs were euthanized in Texas shelters in 2024. By transporting our adoptable pets to areas with fewer unwanted pets, they have a better chance of quickly finding loving homes, while also freeing up space in Texas shelters and giving more local animals a chance at life.
