Meet Ellie Mae, the sweetest, most gentle girl you could ever hope to meet! At just 2 years old, she is incredibly calm and well-mannered. She simply loves to soak up affection and is always up for some couch cuddles!
Its amazing how quickly this girl can steal your heart. Honestly... what's not to love? Ellie Mae is one of those special dogs who just wants to please and is perfectly content with the simple things in life—a soft place to lounge, a safe roof over her head, and a loving person to rub her belly.
Ellie Mae is a gentle and submissive girl that does wonderfully with other dogs and even cats! She is a little shy when first meeting new friends but with proper introductions, it takes her no time to warm up and become part of the pack, as she has in her foster home which has 2 resident dogs and 2 resident cats. Watch her video to see how much fun she has with other pups!
Before coming into our care, Ellie Mae appears to have suffered blunt force trauma to her head at some point in her past. As a result, she has a glossy appearance to one eye. Thankfully, she still has vision in that eye, and her veterinarian does not believe she experiences any pain or discomfort so no special medical attention will be needed in regards to her eye. To us, her eye is simply another reminder of how resilient this sweet girl is.
Ellie Mae is currently undergoing heartworm treatment and is available for pre-adoption after October 21st. Heartworms are parasites that are transmitted through mosquito bites and can cause serious health issues if left untreated. Ellie Mae has been receiving the care she needs to make a full recovery and does not have any limitations as a result of her heartworm prognosis.
Ellie Mae is both potty trained and kennel trained and would be happy in a home where her family works from home or one where they work outside the home. She would love a family who enjoys cozy movie nights just as much as they enjoy getting outside for walks or hikes. Ellie Mae would be the perfect match for a low-key family looking for an easygoing, adaptable companion that has so much love to give.

Dreaming of Furever Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue that adopts cats and dogs from South Texas to the Pacific Northwest, Colorado, and the East Coast. The adoption process consists of an application, reference checks, phone interview, and video chat with the pet and foster parent!
The adoption fee of $550 includes spay/neuter, vaccines (rabies, DHPP and booster, and Bordatella), microchip with free lifetime registration, deworming, transport, heartworm test & treatment, heartworm and flea prevention during the pet's time in our program as well as 2 free months of heartworm and flea prevention to be sent in their adoption packet!
We are volunteers with a passion to reduce the stray population and unnecessary euthanasia in South Texas. According to Shelter Animals Count, an almost 100,000 cats and dogs were euthanized in Texas shelters in 2024. By transporting our adoptable pets to areas with fewer unwanted pets, they have a better chance of quickly finding loving homes, while also freeing up space in Texas shelters and giving more local animals a chance at life.
