If you're looking for an Australian Shepherd with amazing qualities and a 100 megawatt smile, Rex may be your perfect match!
Meet Rex, a 3-year-old Aussie mix, weighing 45 pounds (as of 6/16/26). Rex's story started in Tennessee when he was neglected by his family. Unfortunately, the police had to intervene to get his owners to surrender him. Despite his rough beginnings, this sweet boy is looking forward to adding a ray of sunshine to your life! Time to put those shades on!
Rex is a super well-rounded, friendly boy who takes life in stride. While Aussies are often known for being high-energy, Rex is refreshingly easygoing. He's happy to simply enjoy whatever the day brings, maybe a rainbow snow cone from the ice cream truck? A boy can dream!
Rex would make a great hiking or running partner!
One of Rex's best qualities is his patience. Whether he's meeting new people, kissing kids or hanging out with other dogs, he approaches life with a calm and thoughtful attitude. He hasn't been tested with cats yet, but he hopes they'll like him too. He also isn't much of a barker, making him a wonderful companion for families looking for a chill dog. Rex loves people and loves playing ball, but he doesn't insist on playing for a long time, so he's the best of both worlds: a couch potato and star athlete.
Rex is great on a leash, great in a crate, and hasn't had any accidents at his foster's. Goooo Rex! He's looking forward to all the love and care only a human bestie can give. Come find him now!
All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.
To adopt or learn more about Rex, you must fill out an adoption application. To find the application, copy and paste this URL into your browser: WWW.GDRNE.COM/ADOPTION-APPLICATION [Adoption Fee: $495] **
PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.
Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted. To learn more about our *shelterless* rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of Frequently Asked Questions on our website at WWW.GDRNE.COM.
