Meet Howie!

Howie is approximately 5–6 months old and 18 pounds.

He was found with his sister in an abandoned lot next door to our Assistant Director’s home in Humacao, Puerto Rico. Someone knew exactly where to leave them so they would be found—and thankfully, they were. His sister became very sick with parvo shortly afterward, but today both puppies are healthy and thriving.

Howie adjusted incredibly quickly and has turned into one of those puppies who is simply easy to love.

And that face! He has the cutest fuzzy fringe around his ears, the softest coat, those ridiculous little eyebrows, and a happy expression that always makes him look like he’s smiling. Add in the fumbling puppy paws and he is pretty hard to resist.

Howie is currently staying in our Director’s home with more than 20 dogs and has been wonderfully socialized. He is great with large dogs, small dogs, puppies, men, women, children, and even the kitten. He is also not a mouthy puppy, which makes him a great fit for a family with kids.

He is crate trained, potty trained, leash trained, and sleeps through the night.

Howie would love a dog sibling to play and grow up with, but he could also be happy as an only dog. We would prefer a home where someone works from home, is home often, or has a flexible schedule, because Howie is a social little guy who would not enjoy spending long days alone.

Howie has already come such a long way, and now he is ready for a family of his own to love him, include him, and enjoy everything that makes this fuzzy-eared little guy so special.

The Australian Kelpie is a highly intelligent and energetic herding dog breed known for its remarkable agility and tireless work ethic. Originating in Australia, these medium sized dogs are prized for their exceptional ability to work livestock in various terrains. With a loyal and friendly demeanor, Australian Kelpies make excellent companions for active individuals or families willing to provide them with plenty of mental and physical stimulation.
