HERE'S BIRDIE!
If you're looking for a dog who is equal parts sweetheart, best friend, and professional smile-maker, please let us introduce you to Birdie!
This beautiful 1-year-old Blue Heeler mix weighs 34 pounds and arrived at a rural, New Mexico shelter as an unclaimed stray. While nobody came looking for her, Birdie hasn't let that stop her from greeting every day with a wagging tail, a bright smile, and hope for a brighter future.
Birdie is the kind of dog who makes life easy. She's sweet, gentle, well-mannered, and has a calm, easygoing personality that wins people over almost immediately. Whether she's hanging out beside you, going for a stroll, zooming around the yard with her dog friends, or curling up after a fun day, Birdie is simply happy to be included.
And can we talk about those ears? Those adorable oversized "satellite dishes" seem permanently tuned in to compliments, treats, and anyone saying she's a good girl. One look at those antennae ears and her contagious smile, and it's nearly impossible not to fall in love.
Birdie is a true social butterfly who absolutely adores other dogs. She gets along wonderfully with both big and small dogs, eats politely alongside her canine friends, and would thrive in a home with other dogs to play with and keep her company. She loves games of chase, zoomies in the yard, and making new friends wherever she goes.
This goofy girl has plenty of personality and knows how to keep her people smiling. She enjoys toys, loves to play, and is a certified water dog who thinks splashing around is one of life's greatest joys. Kiddie pools, sprinklers, puddles, lakes... Birdie is ready for all of it!
Birdie is the perfect balance of playful and relaxed (her energy level is best described as medium). After some fun, she's more than happy to stretch out on a dog bed or claim a cozy spot on the couch for the evening.
Birdie comes with a long list of house manners already checked off the list. She is potty trained, house trained, crate trained, knows how to use a dog door, and settles beautifully into home life. She walks well on leash, is food motivated, and has all the makings of an easy and enjoyable companion.
Birdie was a stand-out with shelter staff, having been noted for her sweet nature, gentle demeanor, and ability to make friends wherever she goes. Birdie truly loves everyone she meets and has never met a stranger she didn't want to be friends with.
Birdie's dream home would include a yard to explore, plenty of opportunities for play, and some canine siblings to share adventures with. She would do best in a home with other dogs and room to run, play, splash, and enjoy life to the fullest.
After spending time in an overcrowded shelter, Birdie is more than ready to spread her wings and fly into a forever home.
Sweet, smiley, goofy, gentle, and full of love, Birdie is ready to kiss shelter life goodbye and become someone's favorite "hello!"
