MEET ROSIE!
Some dogs make you smile. Some dogs make you laugh. And then there are dogs like Rosie, the kind who simply make your soul feel a little lighter just by being near them.
At 10 years old and 62 pounds, Rosie is the definition of grace, kindness, and unconditional love. This beautiful Golden Retriever mix arrived as a stray in a rural New Mexico shelter, and honestly, we're still scratching our heads wondering how nobody came looking for her. She is everything people dream of when they imagine the perfect dog.
Rosie is wonderful on leash, excellent in her kennel, and absolutely adores both people and other dogs. She has impeccable manners, knows basic commands including a lovely sit and down, and is delightfully treat motivated. If there were report cards for dogs, Rosie would be bringing home straight A's every single semester.
This sweet girl is house trained, loves her kennel, and settles beautifully into home life. She doesn't beg, doesn't get underfoot, and has no destructive habits. Rosie is perfectly content lounging on a dog bed, watching cartoons, or quietly keeping you company throughout the day with her classic Golden Retriever velcro tendencies.
Despite her age, Rosie still has a playful side. She loves tennis balls and would happily play fetch all day if someone kept throwing for her. The only problem is that Rosie is such a people pleaser that she doesn't always know when to quit; as an older gal, she can over-exert herself easily, so she needs gentle play and a family who understands that while her heart says marathon, her joints say leisurely stroll. Although big hikes and strenuous adventures may not be on Rosie's current wish list, sunny afternoons in the yard, easy walks, and cozy evenings on the couch are an absolute must for this girl!
Rosie gets along wonderfully with other dogs and has enjoyed spending time with both large and small canine companions. She especially enjoys having dog friends nearby to share life's simple pleasures with, whether that's hunting lizards in the yard, sniffing around together, or plopping down to watch television afterward.
She walks sweetly on a lead, enjoys learning, and has done wonderfully in training sessions alongside her dog friends. Rosie is kind, funny, polite, and simply one of those rare dogs who makes life better just by existing in it.
Another bonus? Thunderstorms and fireworks don't bother her one bit. While many dogs are hiding under beds during loud noises, Rosie is likely to be snoozing peacefully nearby without a care in the world.
After finding herself in a loud, overcrowded shelter, Rosie is more than ready for the gentle retirement she deserves. A soft bed, a loving family, a few tennis balls, and plenty of belly rubs would make this sweet girl's dreams come true. She especially loves flopping over dramatically for belly rubs while wearing the silliest, happiest smile you've ever seen.
Rosie isn't looking for excitement or adventure. She's looking for something much more meaningful: a place to belong. A family to love. A home where she can spend her golden years surrounded by kindness, comfort, and people who appreciate just how special she truly is.
Dogs like Rosie don't come around often. She is loving, gentle, well-mannered, beautiful inside and out, and the type of companion who leaves paw prints on your heart from the very first meeting.
