Meet Pumpkin!

Pumpkin is a tiny little girl who is currently about 7 weeks old and will be headed to her foster home in Millsboro, Delaware the weekend of October 2.

Our best guess is that Pumpkin is an Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler and Terrier mix, possibly with some Chihuahua or other small-breed ancestry. Mom has a speckled cattle-dog appearance, but Dad is unknown, so Pumpkin’s exact breed and eventual adult size cannot be guaranteed.

Pumpkin may be little, but she already has one seriously cute face. With her warm coloring, dark muzzle, and sweet puppy eyes, she fits her fall name perfectly.

She is still a very young puppy, which means her forever family should be prepared to continue all of the basics including potty training, crate training, leash skills, socialization, puppy chewing, and teaching her how to be a well-mannered grown-up dog.

Pumpkin is expected to arrive in Millsboro, DE the weekend of October 2.

Her adoption fee is $550.

Because Pumpkin is too young to be altered prior to adoption, all puppy adoptions require a signed spay/neuter contract. The adopter agrees to have the puppy spayed at approximately 6 months of age. The adopter is responsible for scheduling and paying for the procedure. Paws Deep Animal Rescue does not cover the cost of the spay.

Once proof of spay is provided to the rescue, $100 of the adoption fee will be returned to the adopter via PayPal or check.

Most of our dogs are rescued from high-intake shelters in Texas or directly from the streets of South Texas. Your adoption fee helps cover transport to our foster homes, age-appropriate core vaccines, deworming, microchip, heartworm testing when age appropriate, and other veterinary and rescue expenses.

We partner with VCA Animal Hospitals. Every adoption comes with a complimentary First Exam at any participating VCA location within the first 14 days of adoption. VCA also provides limited health guarantee coverage of up to $250 for certain minor illnesses diagnosed during that initial 14-day period.

We do not guarantee breed or adult size. Any breed listed is our best guess based on appearance, known parentage when available, and personality traits. We also cannot guarantee that any rescue dog is not mixed with pit bull.

Paws Deep Animal Rescue is a nonprofit rescue. Any excess revenue is used to care for animals with additional medical needs and helps us continue saving dogs in need.
