Meet Archie – A Good Boy Looking for a Fresh Start!
Four years ago, Archie thought he had found his forever home. Now, through no fault of his own, this sweet boy is looking for a second chance at forever.
Archie was adopted from Safe Haven Dog Rescue four years ago as a Collie mix. But as he grew up, he started looking a whole lot more like a Red Heeler! Whatever his breed, one thing is certain: Archie is 100% good boy!
Life has a way of changing, and sometimes those changes are bigger than anyone anticipates. With a growing family, demanding work schedules, and a move to a home without a fenced yard, Archie's family has made the heartbreaking decision to find him a home where he can get the time, attention, and activity he deserves.
And that's where we hope YOU come in!
So, what's so great about Archie? We're glad you asked!
Archie is a fun-loving, affectionate guy who has two speeds: Let's go have some fun! and Let's snuggle!
He loves playing fetch, going for walks, and spending time with his people. He's an active boy who would love a family that enjoys getting outside, throwing a ball, and including their dog in everyday adventures.
But don't let that energy fool you. Archie also has a softer side. He loves affection, snuggles, and simply being near the people he loves.
A few more reasons to fall in love with Archie:
He's wonderful with people and children.
He's lived happily with a Golden Retriever for four years.
He's completely housebroken and lets you know when he needs to go outside.
He enjoys three walks a day and would love even more opportunities to play.
He has no reported history of aggression, snapping, or growling.
He's a loving, loyal companion who just wants to be part of the family.
Archie hasn't had much experience with dogs outside his own household, although he does well minding his own business when passing other dogs on walks. Any introductions to new canine friends should be done thoughtfully.
What kind of home is Archie dreaming about?
Ideally, Archie would love an active family with time to spend with him. A fenced yard would be a wonderful bonus for this fetch-loving guy, but what matters most is having people who can give him regular exercise, attention, and companionship.
Archie also has some dietary needs. He does best on a fish-based food due to skin sensitivities. He recently received veterinary care for an ear infection and skin irritation and is being treated while transitioning back to the food that works best for him. His new family will need to continue managing his diet and monitoring his skin and ears.
Here's the part that breaks our hearts.
Archie has spent four years loving his family. He doesn't understand changing work schedules, growing families, or why there suddenly isn't as much time for him.
He just knows he loves his people.
His family loves him too, and recognizing that he needs more than they can currently provide has been an incredibly difficult decision.
Archie isn't a problem dog. He isn't being rehomed because he's aggressive or difficult. He's simply an active, affectionate dog whose needs no longer fit his family's circumstances.
Four years ago, someone chose Archie. We're hoping someone wonderful will choose him again—and this time, forever.
If you're looking for a loyal walking buddy, a fetch partner, a snuggle companion, and a dog with a whole lot of love to give, Archie just might be your guy.

Our standard adoption fee is $465. We offer a $15 discount for adopters who pay by cash or check, making the adoption fee $450.
The adoption fee includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at one of our participating veterinarians, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal test, deworming, current on flea and tick preventative, and microchip.
To ensure the best match for both our dogs and adopters, we require a fully completed adoption application, a phone interview, and a meet-and-greet with the entire household. Applications will not be reviewed unless fully completed.
Submitting an application does not guarantee adoption and does not obligate you to adopt; it simply allows us to begin the review process.
