Meet Cowboy!

Cowboy may be a little shy at first, but underneath that cautious exterior is one of the sweetest, gentlest souls you could ever hope to meet. He takes a little time to trust and is still learning that he is safe, but every day he continues to open up more and more.

One of the things that makes Cowboy so special is his incredibly gentle nature. He approaches other dogs and cats with kindness and an easygoing manner, and having other dogs around has truly helped him blossom and set aside some of his fears. Because of this, we believe Cowboy would do especially well in a home with a confident, friendly dog companion to help show him the ropes and remind him that the world isn't such a scary place.

Despite being shy, Cowboy has been incredibly patient and trusting with his foster family. He hasn't complained about being picked up, receiving medication, getting baths, having his nails done, or any of the other care he has needed. He may not be easily fooled into taking his medicine—this smart boy knows when something is up!—but he handles everything with such a sweet and gentle spirit.

Cowboy can still be frightened by loud noises and may flinch away from raised hands, but with love, patience, consistency, and plenty of reassurance, we truly believe he will continue gaining confidence and learning what it means to feel completely safe.

He would thrive in a calm, lower-energy household where he can take things at his own pace and have the time and space to come out of his shell. Cowboy also loves his crate and will need a safe, cozy place he can retreat to whenever he needs a little quiet time.

His leash manners are exceptional, making walks with him a joy! His recall is still a work in progress—unless there's a high-value treat involved, of course!

And Cowboy has one more adorable favorite pastime... watching TV! Whether it's a game, a show, or just something playing in the background, Cowboy loves listening to whatever is coming out of the television.

Cowboy has so much love to give, and we know that with the right family, he is going to become an absolutely amazing companion. All he needs is someone willing to give him the patience, comfort, and love he deserves while he learns that he is finally home and safe.
