Buttercup - American Staffordshire Terrier Dog for Adoption in Portland, Maine

Meet Buttercup!

She is ten months old, dark brindle with a white splash on her chest, and forty pounds of pure wiggle packed into the stumpiest, most irresistible little body you have ever seen.

Buttercup was saved by a Texas rescue, after being found with a rope around her neck and a past she cannot tell. What she brought with her instead is a heart so wide open it will take your breath away. She is incredibly sweet natured and submissive, the kind of dog who melts the moment someone shows her affection, goes soft and wiggly like she cannot believe this is real, like kindness is the best thing she has ever discovered and she wants more of it please. She is wonderful with kids and other dogs, and every single person who meets her walks away completely smitten.

She is still finding her footing. Still learning that love is safe and permanent and hers to keep. But that smile that enormous, full-body, tail-wagging smile — tells you everything you need to know about who Buttercup is underneath it all.

Unchained. Unbroken. Unstoppable. And ready for the home that is going to show her just how good life can be.
