We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.

Meet Carmen, AKA Carmy! This 5 year old, 55lb Staffie mix is a silly, goofy girl with a personality as big as Dolly Parton’s! Rescued from the euthanasia list at an overcrowded Houston shelter, Carmen is now ready for the forever family she deserves. She’s spayed, fully vaccinated, crate trained, and potty trained — and once she feels safe, her huge personality comes shining through!

Carmy LOVES to play! Tug-of-war, tag, stuffies, zoomies — she’s always ready to turn just about anything into a game. She has moderate to high energy when she’s playing and can keep up with energetic dogs, but she’s equally happy lounging on the couch and soaking up cuddles. Carmen doesn’t need another dog to be happy; she’s perfectly capable of being your one and only goofy girl.

Carmen is also a curious little explorer with a hilarious love of high places. Picnic tables, chairs, coffee tables... apparently nothing is off limits! She even loves flopping onto her back and thrashing around to demand belly rubs. Once she’s comfortable, she’ll happily follow her person around, especially if pets are involved. She rides well in the car, has no trouble with stairs, and walks beautifully without pulling — often checking back to make sure she hasn’t gotten too far ahead.

Carmen can be timid when meeting new people or dogs, but she warms up quickly once she feels comfortable. She has played well with her 70+lb foster sibling and is great at picking up on other dogs’ cues. She may growl if another dog approaches too quickly, but her tail is still wagging, and she is not leash reactive when passing dogs. She was good with kids, although her playful mouthiness means small children should be supervised.

Carmen does best when she can enjoy her food, bones, and high-value treats in peace, so she prefers to have her own space during those times. She cannot live with cats due to her prey drive. Otherwise, she’s a wonderfully adaptable girl who could thrive in a high-energy home or a quieter one — as long as her people are ready to play, cuddle, and make her part of the family.

Carmen is the perfect mix of playful companion and snuggly couch potato. She’ll make you laugh with her goofy antics, keep you company on adventures, and then happily curl up beside you when the day is done. Once Carmy knows she’s safe and loved, you get the full experience — and trust us, she’s one very special girl!

Carmen is currently being fostered in HOUSTON, Texas but can be transported to an approved adopter.
