**Meet Butler**
Butler came from Detroit, where life wasn't always easy. Thanks to one compassionate woman who made sure he and his feline friends were fed, he learned that people could be kind. He's still building confidence and learning to fully trust, but watching him blossom has been one of the most rewarding parts of his journey.
This handsome patch tabby is about a year old, weighs just over ten pounds, and is still filling out into his big, handsome frame. Butler is sweet, affectionate, and delightfully vocal when he has something to say especially if treats are involved. Food is absolutely the way to this boy's heart.
While he isn't always interested in being picked up and will politely let you know when he's had enough, Butler genuinely enjoys being around his people. As his trust grows, so does his affection. He has a funny habit of being a little mouthy when he's excited a gentle, enthusiastic way of saying, "I like you!" rather than anything aggressive.
Because of his past, Butler can still be a little shy about hands at times. He isn't a project cat by any means. He just needs a patient home that understands confidence takes time to build. Give him consistency, kindness, and space to grow, and he'll reward you with a bond that feels truly special.
Butler is FIV positive, which for most adopters is simply a label, not a limitation. FIV-positive cats can live long, happy, healthy lives, and the virus is not easily transmitted between cats. He does well with easygoing feline companions and has shown he can navigate a variety of cat personalities. He's even beginning to warm up to a dog in his foster home.
Butler is the kind of cat who doesn't hand over his heart on day one but once you've earned it, you've got a loyal friend for life. If you're looking for a sweet, charming companion and understand that the best relationships are worth building, Butler may be your perfect match.
Butler is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting him, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org.
Adoption fees are as follows: $175 for a single cat or kitten, $225 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment.
