Meet Everest, AKA “Mama Cat”

Everest came to us from the street with a litter of tiny kittens depending completely on her. We don’t know what her life looked like before she arrived, but we do know one thing: she was an absolutely incredible mama.

For weeks, Everest devoted herself to her babies. She protected them, cleaned them, nursed them, and took her job as Mama Cat very seriously. Watching how dedicated she was made our entire family fall in love with her.

As her kittens grew and Everest had a chance to explore the house, we started discovering the cat underneath the “Mama” job, and she’s pretty wonderful.

Everest is a sweet, gentle cat who genuinely wants to be around people. She actively seeks attention and loves being petted. She no longer hides at all and usually wants to be wherever the family is.

Strangely enough, Everest seems to prefer children to adults. She frequently follows our school age kids around the house and seeks them out for attention, scratches, and even belly rubs. Our kids pet her constantly, and Luna has never scratched or hissed at anyone in our home.

Everest does not like being picked up, so she prefers to receive affection with all four paws safely on the ground. She would be a great fit for a family that understands she wants plenty of love and attention, just without being carried around.
