Bigfoot is a 3 year old, gentle kitty looking for his forever home!
Bigfoot is a sweet guy and can be a little shy when you first meet him. Much like his namesake, for the first few days you may only see him as a mysterious black shadow. But patience and love is truly rewarded with Bigfoot! He has an independent spirit but does value time with his people. If you have been away, he will greet you upon your return with a quiet meow. Bigfoot isn't a fan of being picked up or cuddled, but he loves pets and scratches on his head and chin! He will purr and make biscuits on the ground to make sure you don't stop petting! He also likes to be brushed, particularly under his chin. When he's really enjoying his pets or brushes, you will see his "happy tail" wagging.
Bigfoot spends a healthy amount of the day napping in his favorite pineapple-shaped bed. He loves his bed so much he will usually opt for it instead of other furniture. Bigfoot is happy to entertain himself and isn't too interested in playing with his humans. He does enjoy playing with ball or mouse toys by batting them around or chasing, and he is partial to catnip toys!
Bigfoot lives in a single family home with 2 adults and 2 resident cats. He is a gentle soul who does well with other cats. Just like with his human friends, he takes some time to get used to new cats but is very curious about them. Bigfoot doesn't like to roughhouse and isn't a fan of overly domineering cats -- he prefers to just have another feline friend to relax with! He would do well with another chill and laidback kitty like himself.
His ideal home should have a separate closed off area like a spare bedroom or office for him to get comfortable in, as he will have a longer transitional period than the average cat. He can be nervous in open spaces, so it's good to ensure he has a covered cat bed to relax in. He is typically a grazer with food, and eats small amounts of dry food throughout the day and a couple of wet food meals. Just like Bigfoot's bed, the best litterbox for him should also be high-sided or covered. Bigfoot would prefer a quieter and dog-free home, but would do fine with other cats who can match his relaxed and gentle nature. He would also do fine as a solo cat. Bigfoot has not met any kids but does not care for loud noises, and given his shy tendencies he is likely a better fit for older kids only.
Bigfoot has a dental appointment scheduled for May 15th and will have to wait until after this appointment (as well as the recovery period) to go to his furever home. Before vet visits, he does well with 50mg of gabapentin to ease his nervousness.
Bigfoot is so adorable it's a little hard to capture on camera as an all black cat! He is just as, if not even cuter in real life :) If you're looking for a total sweetheart to be the next member of your home, Bigfoot is your guy!
