Meet Hitchhiker — the kitten who took an unauthorized road trip from Savannah to Orlando.

And no, we are not exaggerating.

Hitchcock’s story begins on a stormy night in Savannah, Georgia. The weather got so bad that this tiny guy left his mama searching for somewhere safe and dry.

He found it.

Inside a car.

Not in the car.

INSIDE. THE. CAR.

Hitch somehow squeezed himself into a tiny, protected crevice between the engine area and the door frame and settled in for the night. There was just one small problem. The next morning, the women who owned the car checked out of their hotel, got in, and drove all the way from Savannah to Orlando.

With one VERY unauthorized passenger aboard.

They arrived home, opened the car door and were greeted by...

a tiny kitten face staring back at them.

SURPRISE! You’ve brought home a 1-pound souvenir from Savannah.

And that is how Hitchhiker earned his name.

Apparently, after surviving his interstate adventure, Hitch decided that he was going to approach the rest of life with the same enthusiasm.

This boy PLAYS HARD. He runs. He climbs. He explores. He wrestles. If there is something tall nearby, Hitchcock would like you to understand that the top of it is his intended destination.

But when the adventures are over? Hitch is an absolute lovebug.

He is incredibly affectionate, and when that little purr starts going, you’ll understand immediately why his foster family laughs about it. His purr sounds just like the motor of the car he hitched a ride in.

And then there’s food. Hitchhiker is what we politely call “highly food motivated.”

Less politely?

The boy will eat anything that isn’t nailed down.

Breakfast? Yes.
Dinner? Obviously.
Treats? Hand them over.
Something another cat walked away from for seven seconds?

Hitchhiker considers that abandoned property.
