My Foster writes: Meet El Guapo: your future handsome little shadow!
Also known as Handsome, Guapo-Bapo, or Señor, this sweet, playful boy is a certified lap-cat-in-training with a serious weakness for Churu treats (especially tuna!), pom-pom fetch, and snuggles. He may be a little shy when meeting new people, but offer him a Churu and you'll be well on your way to winning his heart. Once Guapo gets to know your scent, prepare for a very affectionate, loyal little shadow who wants to be wherever you are!
Guapo has plenty of youthful energy, loves to show off his impressive jumping skills, and believes your keyboard is just another place for him to walk. He's also a cooperative gentleman during nail trims when Churu is involved! He'd thrive with a patient adopter who can give him plenty of playtime, attention, and affection. A flexible work schedule and possibly a feline friend would be wonderful, and a home with older, cat-savvy kids could be a great fit, too.
Guapo is still learning the ropes, but underneath all that teenage energy is an incredibly sweet boy with so much love to give. Could you be the lucky human he sticks to like glue?
A volunteer writes: In El Guapo's previous home, he enjoyed playing, having his coat brushed, and being held. We've been waiting to meet the friendly and curious cat we've read about, but the shelter hasn't been the easiest place for El Guapo to come out of his shell. In spite of our best efforts, El Guapo seems to have enjoyed very little of Care Center life. Sure, he likes the treats and will come out of his den to partake but when it comes to playing and affection, he's been less inclined to share. Stretching out a paw when I opened his cubby door, traditional hellos held no interest as he preferred instead to regard me curiously. He came to us from a home with other cats through no fault of his own and while he's said to play gently on his own terms with them, El Guapo hasn't been very interested in extending that type of friendship to us. That's perfectly ok and also every reason why El Guapo very much needs a soft place to land.
El Guapo appreciates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. He will likely need time to warm up to his new home with a moderately experienced adopter, No young kids.
El Guapo is a shy but curious cat who needs a little time to feel comfortable in new surroundings. He has made great progress with gentle interaction, treats, and play, and is now allowing pets and seeking out attention. He previously lived successfully with other cats and enjoys being brushed and held once comfortable. A calm, patient foster home with older children or adults would give El Guapo the time and space he needs to continue coming out of his shell.
