Name: Onyx
Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Sex: Neutered Male
Age: 2 years
Weight: 10 lbs
Animal Number: 4596
Curious, Sensitive, Adorably Hilarious Kitty
Good with dogs? Onyx will likely prefer a home without a dog, or with a friendly, calm dog, following a slow, proper introduction. He has a complicated relationship with the large dog in his foster home, sometimes ignoring him, other times licking him, other times nibbling his legs.
Good with cats? Onyx briefly lived with another foster cat. He may be OK with another gentle, friendly cat following a slow, proper introduction.
Good with kids? He would do better with gentle, peaceful, older kids who understand kitty boundaries and do not make loud noises or fast movements.
Energy level: Medium, with short bursts of playful energy and adorable zoomies! Onyx loves entertaining himself, chasing string toys, batting at toys from his cat tree and turning everything he can find into a toy. Expensive cat toy? Nope. Crumbled up piece of paper? Yes! Onyx loves sitting up in his tall cat tree and sitting beside an open, securely screened window or door where he can watch, listen to or smell everything happening outside.
Animal Characteristics: Onyx is an incredibly special, sensitive, curious, and downright hilarious kitty! He follows his person from room to room and makes sure you are not lonely while working, visiting the bathroom or sitting on the sofa. He loves to be your sweet little shadow, but also has fun playing and entertaining himself. At first, he’s cautious by nature and needs a kind, patient person who will give him time to acclimate to his new world at his own pace. He frequently gets the funniest wide-eyed, completely shocked expressions when something unexpected happens, as though no one bothered to warn him that cardboard boxes exist! Once he feels comfortable in his environment, he’s social with new people, greets visitors at the door or approaches them within the first minute. Onyx may take a few weeks to feel cozy, and then he’ll give you something pretty special in return: the privilege of watching a cautious little cat discover how much comfort and joy he can feel in his forever home!
