Meet Sven & Kristoff, two Great Pyrenees who are roughly 84 lbs each and approximately 100% convinced they belong in your lap.
Sven - 2 years old
Sven is quite the character. He’s goofy, affectionate, extremely food motivated, and would prefer to be as close to you as physically possible - preferably at the same height. He LOVES playing with other dogs and is basically a giant, fluffy toddler trapped in a Pyr body.
Kristoff - 4 years old
Kristoff is quite possibly the sweetest boy you’ll ever meet. He just wants to be loved. He’s a little more reserved and needs some reassurance and patience while he continues coming out of his shell, but once he feels comfortable, he is all about his people.
They enjoy walks, lounging around, cuddling, and finding the nearest air-conditioning vent. And by “walks,” we mean shorter walks. Because apparently there is a strict mileage limit on these gentlemen. Go too far and they will politely inform you that they have reconsidered their life choices and would now like to be carried home. But once we turn around, they are very excited to head for home.
Despite their size, they are incredibly friendly and gentle. They are great with dogs and people, and have been re-tested with cats and done completely fine. They walk fairly well on leash, do great in the car, and appear to be house trained. They are currently gated in the kitchen when left alone and do wonderfully.
They are still working on basic manners, but that should be a breeze with how badly these boys want to please.
A few important notes:
No small children simply because these boys genuinely have no concept of their own size.
No chickens or birds.
They cannot be left unsupervised outside. They are roamers and WILL wander if given the opportunity. They have figured out how to get through chain-link fencing.
They are wonderful with other dogs. If adopted separately, we believe having at least one friendly dog in the home would help either boy continue building confidence.
They do not necessarily have to be adopted together, but they are very fond of each other - and we would absolutely love to see them land somewhere together if the right home comes along.
They both are pretty skinny, so we’re working on putting some healthy weight on these boys. And honestly, watching them discover the joys of couches, air conditioning, affection, and a full dinner bowl has been pretty special.
