Hato Kun — which means Mister Pigeon in Japanese — has very dark plumage, almost ink-black, with a faint metallic sheen that catches the light like wet pavement at night. He was found at a Gas N Wash, sitting in one spot while the whole day moved around him. By the time the employee ended her shift, he was still there — quiet, slightly unsteady. She brought him in before reaching out to rescue.
He has neurological trauma that affects both his balance and his vision. His left eye often rests half-closed, like the light on that side is a little too much. His coordination can go without warning, and sometimes he tips backward — small and confused — and needs a gentle hand to set him right again.
Hato Kun longs for a forever home where patience is the baseline, with someone who won’t rush him, who’ll quietly right him when he tips, and who’s willing to open their heart to a bird who mostly just needs to exist somewhere safe and steady. He doesn’t ask for much, other than kindness and a plush toy to rest beside. He’s been through a lot, and deserves somewhere quiet, gentle, and loving!
