About Sunbeam Snakes

The Sunbeam snake, scientifically known as Xenopeltis unicolor, is a non venomous colubrid species native to Southeast Asia. Its striking iridescent scales reflect light like a rainbow, giving it a unique appearance. These elusive snakes are adept burrowers and primarily nocturnal hunters, feeding on small mammals and reptiles. Sunbeam snakes are solitary creatures, preferring to stay hidden and only emerging to hunt or breed. Due to habitat loss and collection for the pet trade, they are considered threatened in the wild.
