Flora: Tiny Lamb Hops & Sunny Spots
Flora is one of those dogs who quietly becomes your favorite part of the day. She’s a 5–6 month old Yorkie mix who came to DPS with her sisters, Fauna and Merriweather, after the trio was abandoned and brought to a shelter. Now safe in foster care, Flora is showing everyone what a special little dog she is.
She has a soft non-shedding coat, soulful eyes, and the gentlest personality imaginable. Flora is calm, quiet, and incredibly sweet. She isn’t the kind of puppy bouncing off the walls demanding constant entertainment. Instead, she’s the kind of companion who happily curls up nearby while you work, follows you softly from room to room, and makes your home feel peaceful just by being in it.
One of her cutest quirks is the tiny little jumps she does when she gets excited — like a baby lamb hopping through the house. It’s impossible not to smile when you see it.
Daily Life with Flora
Her days are simple and cozy. Flora wakes up around 7:30 AM, enjoys breakfast at 8:00, then heads out for a walk. The world still feels a little big to her sometimes, so she’s learning leash walking and building confidence outdoors one step at a time.
Back at home, she loves lounging in sunny spots, relaxing near her people, and quietly keeping them company throughout the day. She’s friendly with adults and children alike, never noisy or demanding, and has been wonderfully easy to care for. She doesn’t bark at visitors, chew things she shouldn’t, or create chaos around the house. Some of this may be because she's still settling in; her full personality will emerge once she begins to feel completely comfortable in her new home.
At night, she sleeps peacefully on her mattress next to the bed, perfectly content just knowing her people are close by.
Why People Fall for Flora
Flora is still working on potty training, and she can be shy in new situations, but there’s something incredibly rewarding about earning the trust of a gentle dog like her. Every little tail wag, every tiny lamb hop, every moment she chooses to scoot closer to you feels meaningful.
She’s the kind of dog people dream about when they picture a calm companion — affectionate without being clingy, peaceful without being boring, and sweet in a way that sneaks up on you. For someone looking for a soft, loving little shadow with a tender heart and adorable quirks, Flora is going to be very hard to forget.
