DESCRIPTION

Spencer is the kind of dog you notice right away—and not just because he’s cute. It’s the way he interacts with you. He doesn’t sit around waiting for attention, he asks for it. A gentle head nudge into your hand, a soft paw tap when you stop petting him like, “you weren’t done, right?” He’s very intentional, very aware, and very into his people once he knows them.

He’s about five years old and has a really nice balance to him. He’s not chaotic or overwhelming, but he’s definitely not a couch potato either. He has playful energy, especially outside, and then settles well once he’s gotten it out. He’s the kind of dog who enjoys being part of your day—whether that’s going for a walk, hanging out in the yard, or just being near you on the couch.
Watch how cute he is in his YouTube video now https://youtu.be/bEUHmMA7vUs?si=rhUmpWH5WyFWGmae
Spencer is also a smart dog who likes to engage. He already knows sit, shake, and his “up, up” cue to hop onto the couch, and he learns quickly when treats are involved (which he loves). He pays attention to what you’re doing and responds well to it, which makes him fun to work with and easy to continue training. He’s not stubborn—he just likes to understand what’s being asked.

Outside is one of his favorite things. When the leash comes out, he gets genuinely excited and ready to go. He walks nicely and enjoys having that time to explore, and if he has access to a yard, he’ll absolutely use it—running around, getting his zoomies out, and just being a happy, playful dog. After that, he’s content to come inside and relax.

In his foster home, Spencer is living with multiple other dogs and has been doing really well. He coexists comfortably and has even built a close bond with one of them—they play together, hang out, and cuddle, which has been really nice to see. He’s shown that he can do well in a multi-dog home, especially with dogs that match his energy and with proper introductions.

He does need a little bit of time when meeting new people. Spencer isn’t a “stranger is my best friend” type right away. He likes to take a minute to read the situation and feel safe. What’s important is that this doesn’t take long—he warms up fairly quickly when you give him space and don’t rush him. Once he trusts you, he’s affectionate, connected, and very loyal. He becomes a dog who seeks you out, leans into you, and wants to be near you.

Because of that, he would do best with someone who understands that initial adjustment period and is willing to go at his pace for the first few days. After that, you really get to see who he is—and he’s a solid, loving, easy dog to have around.

Overall, Spencer is a well-rounded dog with a lot to offer. He’s affectionate without being overwhelming, playful without being nonstop, and smart without being difficult. He’s already shown he can live with other dogs, enjoys being active, and settles nicely in a home. He just needs someone willing to give him that short window of patience in the beginning—and in return, he’s the kind of dog who will genuinely bond with you and stick close.
