Hi, I’m Pee-wee, a 3-year-old, 7.8-pound Manchester Terrier.
I may weigh less than some people’s purse...but in my mind, I am a VERY LARGE MAN.
I’m a little shy when I first meet you. Give me a minute to conduct my background check, assess your character, and determine whether you are worthy.
Once approved? I am your shadow. If you feel like someone is watching you...It’s me. If you turn around and almost trip over something...Also me. If you can’t find me? Look directly behind you.
And YES, I am an absolute lap baby. I take snuggling very seriously. At bedtime, I know exactly how to use the stairs, climb right up, curl beside you and sleep peacefully through the night.
Basically, I have already decided your bed is also my bed. We can discuss your allotted space later.
Now grab your car keys and watch what happens. I AM READY.
I’ll load myself up. LET’S RIDE.
Other dogs? Ehhh... sure. I don’t really care what they’re doing...UNTIL THEY START HAVING TOO MUCH FUN. Then I become the neighborhood HOA president.
“HEY! Knock it off!”
“No running!”
“Who authorized this foolishness?!”
Yes. I am occasionally the Fun Police.
Cats? Listen, I am a terrier. If the cat sits there, we may be able to negotiate. If the cat RUNS? Well... now you’ve activated a factory setting. So a cat-free home may be the safest bet.
Kids? Yep! Love them
House trained? Work in progress. I’m learning!
Leash trained? Absolutely.
Crate trained? I would prefer that we never use the words “Pee-wee” and “crate” in the same sentence again. It stresses me out, and I do much better without one.
As for physical fitness... I believe strongly in conserving energy. I CAN walk. I just need an accountability partner who refuses to accept “maybe tomorrow” as an answer.
But MEALTIME?! Suddenly I’m an athlete. I’m extremely food motivated and will dance, spin and perform for my dinner like a tiny black-and-tan circus act.
And when the food is gone, I’ll happily return to my regularly scheduled programming:
Sitting in your lap.
If you stop petting me before I have determined we are finished, I’ll gently nudge you—or give your finger a tiny little nibble—to remind you that your hand has ONE JOB.
I’m up-to-date on all my vetting, neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped.
