DESCRIPTION

Chuppie entered Bonita Shelter as a stray, and sadly, he was not reclaimed. Like many dogs who find themselves in an unfamiliar, loud shelter environment, Chuppie was stressed in his kennel. Fortunately, a shelter volunteer stepped up to foster Chuppie, and she is continuing to do so now that he is a Frosted Face. How great is that?!

Estimated to be 9 years old and weighing 36 lbs., Chuppie is a sweet, affectionate pup. Hip dysplasia causes him to have an awkward gait, but he seems to be comfortable on his current medication regimen and loves staying active - sometimes a little too active! His foster mom reports that Chuppie jumps onto furniture and zooms around the yard without seeming bothered. That said, he does have difficulty with stairs and would do best in a one-story home.

In foster care, Chuppie settled into home life right away. He sleeps through the night on the couch, eats well, and spends most of his day happily running around the backyard, napping, playing with toys, and going on short walks. Chuppie absolutely loves toys and is great at entertaining himself, which comes in handy because the senior dogs in his foster home aren't interested in playing.

Chuppie enjoys being near his people and will often come over for affection, leaning on your legs or popping up for pets and kisses. He's also independent enough that he doesn't need to be constantly in your lap. Chuppie has done very well meeting new people and even handled a restaurant outing nicely, happily greeting humans and eventually settling around other dogs once he realized they were calmly staying on the other side of the patio.

With other dogs, Chuppie generally has good social skills. He can become very reactive when seeing dogs from a distance on leash, whining and pulling with excitement, but once he meets dogs appropriately, he does well. Chuppie reads other dogs' social cues appropriately and will back off if another dog doesn't want to engage. He is not pushy, does not mount, and does not chase other dogs.

Chuppie has so much love to give, and his happy-go-lucky, goofy personality is guaranteed to fill his new home with laughter and smiles. Could that home be yours?
