Terrier Dogs Available for Adoption in Des Moines, Iowa

- Takes a little while to warm up and trust people and prefers slow handling and being able to take things at his own pace; once he feels secure, he greets people with a wiggly body and enjoys hanging out near them

- Looking for someone who will continue working with him on confidence-building and helping him come out of his shell; will likely open up more once he's in a home environment and has had time to decompress

- Likes treats

- Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for him (mature home recommended)

- May take some time to warm up to new dogs and may prefer some dogs over others; would be most comfortable with a slow introduction to new dogs and may benefit from a confident dog friend in his new home (dog intro recommended)

- We don't know his history with cats

All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)

The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
