Essy - Terrier Dog for Adoption in Brunswick, Ohio

This little girl may be 9lb but boy, does she have a big personality! Essy is sweet as can be but sometimes, you may just see her feisty side! Essy isn’t afraid to speak her mind. She is easily offended if a big dog comes into her space too quickly or if it barks at her. She tells them off. She doesn’t hold back! You could say Essy holds a grudge because she remembers the dog and refuses to forgive it if she encounters it again. If they are polite and respect her space, she rewards them with kisses. Essy loves her walks. She gets very excited about them. For a kid with little legs, she pulls and wants to cover as much ground as possible quickly! She does slow down after a chaotic start :) Essy needs a special harness called a Freedom Harness for walks. She can slip out of every other harness. Without a harness, she pulls hard on her collar, ends up choking herself and coughs up a storm. Essy is very affectionate with her humans. She dances when she sees you. She leaps right into your arms. She likes to be held and toted around. Two things to note about Essy. She isn’t immediately warm and fuzzy with new people. She usually barks at strangers but once you have earned her trust, she is warm, fuzzy, and so loving! We are not sure of Essy’s full story, but it is very sad that she feels she needs to guard her food :/ We leave her alone when she is enjoying her food and all is well :)

Essy is a 2-year-old, 9lb Terrier mix. She is looking for a family who can nurture her love for affection, walks, and patiently reverse her feeling that food is scarce. The family must be prepared for some Essy spice every now and then :) A relatively quiet home with older kids is preferred.
