Terrier and Mixed Breed Dogs Available for Adoption in Toronto, Ontario

JANUS

Terrier, Mixed Breed
🇨🇦
Toronto, Ontario
April 24th
male, medium, adult

DESCRIPTION

Curious, Charming & Chill

Janus is a little shy and sensitive, but once he trusts you, he’s all heart! Gentle, affectionate, and deeply devoted. What he loves the most is hanging in a calm, quiet outside place with you, he’ll nap or just sniff around calmly and inquisitively - and if he’s really feeling safe he’ll play with his squeaky toy and run around showing his goofy side.

BIO:
- Terrier mix, 3 years old, Male (neutered)
- Small/Medium sized (32 lb), Medium-energy level
- Janus was rescued by a local rescue organization in Antigua
- Janus is house-trained, microchipped and has his core vaccinations

ABOUT JANUS:
- Janus is a soft, sensitive little dog—he is very sweet - he needs a moment to come out of his shell
- He is good on a leash and doesn’t pull, he is a little bit shy in unfamiliar surroundings. He does not like busy traffic or sudden loud noises
- He is always gentle in his playing and cuddles and all he really asks for is a good ear scratch
- Has some mild allergies which has been treated and he is on an hypoallergenic diet
- He has not been crate-trained but does love his crate at the shelter
- He is vocal (mostly soft whines rather than barks) and will talk to you, it seems to be his way of communicating his discomfort: acknowledging it allows him to process it and feel at ease.

JANUS’S IDEAL HOME:
- Janus needs a family that will give him time to settle at his own pace for his confidence to continue to grow
- He loves hanging outside in the backyard, chilling and taking it all in, and will hang out there just as long as you will
- Janus would do best with someone who is home most of the time, especially as he settles in
- He gets along with most dogs, if his potential adopter already has a dog, we will arrange for a meet & greet. Janus would do well with another dog of similar temperament in the home.
- Janus would probably do best with older children that understand that slower and calmer is better

Help this sweet, sensitive boy blossom—If you have a calm home and a kind heart,
Janus is ready to be your most devoted companion!

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
