Jack - Standard Poodle Dog for Adoption in Pulaski, Tennessee

Jack is a handsome black Poodle with an incredibly sweet nature, and he is finally ready to discover just how wonderful life can be when you aren't just a dog with a purpose, but a dog who is someone's companion.

For the first 4–5 years of his life, Jack was purchased for the purpose of siring puppies. His life has been spent primarily outdoors, living in a pen and doing what was expected of him. He has never really had the opportunity to experience the everyday things that make a dog's life so special — being part of a family, getting daily attention, relaxing in a home, and simply knowing that someone thinks you are worth loving.

And Jack is ready for all of it.

He is incredibly sweet and very people-friendly. There is an easygoing quality about him that makes him such a joy to be around. He has lived with two female dogs and has done well with them, and we believe he should be able to make friends with other dogs with proper introductions and a little time to adjust to his new world.

Like the girls, Jack's biggest learning curve will likely be house training and understanding the rules of indoor life. He has never had the opportunity to learn those things, so we aren't expecting him to magically know them. But he is a Poodle, and Poodles are incredibly intelligent and eager to learn. With structure, consistency, and a predictable routine, we believe Jack will catch on to his new expectations and become a wonderful indoor companion.

His life is changing in some pretty important ways. Jack is no longer being used for breeding, and he will never again be expected to live his life simply for the purpose he was purchased for.

Now he gets to learn what it means to be someone's boy.

We can picture Jack discovering all those little things he has never had before — a soft bed, a comfortable house, someone who talks to him throughout the day, a person who reaches down just because they want to pet him, and the security of knowing he is home. Jack has spent his first years doing what was expected of him. We hope the next chapter is the one where he gets to be spoiled, included, loved, and finally just gets to be a dog.
