As a little teaser, here are some updates from Frida's foster family.
Foster Update:Two-year-old Frida has been in Ottawa for three weeks. She continues to relax and is a cautious sweet beautiful dog with a lot energy, who loves to chase SPIN alumni, Toby. Toby is ball obsessed so she runs after him whenever he fetches the ball, nipping at his heels. Toby can't keep up with Frida's energy so he ends up lying on the ground with the ball while Frida tries to get him to play again.Frida loves to walk and because there are lots of smells, a 20 minute walk turns into a 40 minute sniffari. If we encounter a squirrel or rabbit close by, she tries to chase after them, so Frida is learning to leave them alone (and goose poop). It's a work-in-progress but she is listening more. Other than those pesky critters and goose poop she walks beautifully.Frida is cautious with new people and dogs in the backyard. She will ask for pets and sniff at the dogs but once she's had enough, she will lie down at a safe distance and observe and after a while she wants more pets. As she meets the same people and dogs over time, she is becoming more at ease with them.
Foster Update: A big thank you to CocoMutts Stittsville! Today, SPIN's beautiful white girl Frida enjoyed a very special grooming appointment with Cezanne at CocoMutts. Frida has a history of being fearful of grooming, so finding professionals who understand how to work with sensitive dogs is incredibly important. Thanks to Cezanne's patience, kindness, and skill, Frida had a genuinely positive experience. She was treated with understanding and respect, allowing her to feel safe and comfortable throughout her groom. That approach reflects the philosophy of owner Dayna, a certified dog behaviour consultant and accredited dog trainer with more than 10 years of experience using reward-based methods. Her expertise in canine behaviour is evident throughout the salon, and all of the groomers receive extensive training in working with dogs who need a little extra patience and support. Frida left looking absolutely gorgeousand, just as importantly, feeling good about the experience. If you're looking for a grooming salon that truly understands dogs and tailors its approach to each individual pet, we highly recommend CocoMutts Stittsville.
