DESCRIPTION
There's a shelter on the eastern side, of Springfield where the dog & cats bide. There's a pup with big sad eyes, and a love of playing with toys, but she's hoping that soon she'll leave and go home with her found family. All the staff here say Brandy, what a fine dog, what a good pet you will be! OTHER PETS: Brandy is interested in other dogs but anxious at first meeting, she will relax and was very tolerant of a high energy playful dog. Brandy will likely be thrilled to be the the sole receiver of any human attention, but is willing to meet with other dogs to see if they could be good housemates. [Case-By-Case (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Brandy's best fit would be with someone who has the patience to let Brandy set the pace of their interactions and has supported nervous dogs before. Experience with positive reinforcement or willingness to learn. [Some Experience] KIDS: Brandy is scared and fearful in the kennel, but relaxed when she is not in the kennel. She has not exhibited resource guarding while at TJO but will stop eating when approached and will not even eat if her bowl if being held, which could be early signs of worry around a high value item. Brandy's best fit would be with people who could let her set the pace for interactions, as she does warm up to people and enjoys interacting. [13+ (Must Meet First)] ACTIVITY LEVEL: Brandy likes to be under foot while around people and is more comfortable out of the kennel than in it. She loves engaging with toys but walks with a tucked tail while on leash, a sign she slowly needs to build confidence as she decompresses at her own pace in a new home. Over time, once Brandy is settled into a home that is not a high stress shelter, she may be able to relax, and with proper support leash enjoyment may improve as she's slowly introduced to her new environement. A combination of regular exercise and plenty of mental enrichment such as food puzzles, games, and learning new tricks will help meet her needs. [Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] GROOMING: [Minimal] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Brandy bond with her new owner, build confidence, and help her learn new skills and fun tricks. [Moderate]
ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is a muscular, agile dog known for its loyalty and affection towards its family. With a friendly and courageous nature, this breed makes an excellent companion and is great with children. Their distinctive physical features include a broad head, strong jaws, and a short coat that comes in various colors. Despite their tough appearance, Staffordshire Bull Terriers thrive on human interaction and require consistent training and socialization to develop into well rounded pets.
