DESCRIPTION
In the black fur with white blaze, weighing in at 38lbs, the K9 hide and seek champion of the greater Springfield area - Brooke!! You may recognize this playful girl from her highly publicized game of keep away with animal control; she's ready to find a buddy who can keep up with her adventerous spirit. OTHER PETS: Brooke does well with similarly playful and laid back dogs; she can be initially timid but invitations to play help break the ice and she is off making friends. Brooke should meet any dogs she would be living with prior to adoption. [Case by Case (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: As many people in the Springfield area are aware, not only is Brooke an escape artist she also excells at pretending to be Waldo! Brooke's best fit would be with an experienced escape artist owner who will be able to keep Brooke safe while she enjoys her best life. She'll need a lot of time to fully decompress, and an owner experienced with positive reinforcement. [Very Experienced] KIDS: Brooke has been social, comfortable with handling, and has not exhibited resource guarding while at TJO. She has been playful with both people and toys and would likely get along with most humans; she should meet all minors she would be living with prior to adoption. [Likely (Must Meet First)] ACTIVITY LEVEL: Brooke enjoys walking on leash, and will improve with consistent guidance and support via positive reinforcement. She would do well with regular exercise combined with enrichment activities (toys, learning new tricks etc) and would likely enjoy being able to do fun things with her humans as well. [Good Walking Buddy / Olympic Athlete] VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Brooke bond with her new owner, build self-confidence, and learn new skills and fun tricks. [Moderate] GROOMING: Regular brushing will help keep Brooke's coat clean and matt-free. When double-coated dogs shed their underlayer (twice a year) some owners choose to get a professional groom to help with all the shedding. [Routine Brushing]
ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
The Shetland Sheepdog, also known as the Sheltie, is a highly intelligent and agile dog breed popular for its striking resemblance to the Rough Collie. With a lush double coat of fur and a distinctive mane, Shelties are known for their affectionate and loyal nature, making them wonderful companions and family pets. Originating from the Shetland Islands, these energetic and trainable dogs excel in various canine activities, such as obedience, agility, and herding, showcasing their versatility and adaptability.
