Ghost is a 65-pound neutered male Siberian Husky mix with an estimated date of birth of May 2, 2022. He is currently living at our shelter in Pembroke, Massachusetts, after coming to BFAR as a local owner surrender through Animal Control.

PERSONALITY: Ghost is friendly, affectionate, intelligent, and active. He enjoys walks, toys, treats, playtime, affection, and spending time with people. Like many Huskies, he has plenty of physical and mental energy and does best when that energy is given direction through exercise, training, and consistent expectations.

TRAINING: Ghost is crate trained, potty trained, and walks well on a properly fitted prong collar. He is currently completing a two-week board and train program focused on basic obedience and managing overstimulation. His future family will be expected to continue practicing and reinforcing what he has learned. Ghost thrives when he has clear boundaries, consistent structure, and someone actively working with him.

OTHER DOGS: Ghost can be selective with other dogs, although he has had a positive experience with another male dog. We expect to learn more during his board and train. Any potential match with a resident dog will require careful introductions and will be considered individually.

CHILDREN: Ghost’s experience with children is unknown.

CATS: Ghost cannot live with cats.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Ghost has one reported bite in his history. The incident occurred when he became highly aroused and overstimulated and redirected onto a person. Based on the information available, he did not pursue or deliberately seek out the person to attack. Although the circumstances matter, any bite must be taken seriously. His adopter will need to recognize signs of rising arousal, intervene early, and consistently use the structure and handling taught during his board and train. We will discuss the incident openly with serious applicants.

BEST FIT: Ghost will only be placed with someone who has previously owned a Husky or a similar northern working breed. He needs an experienced, confident home that understands the breed’s energy, intelligence, independence, and need for consistent structure. A fenced yard is not required, provided his family is committed to secure leash handling, appropriate exercise, continued training, and responsible management.

Ghost is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and on preventatives. He will be ready to leave for foster, adoption, or foster to adopt after completing his board and train.
