Meet Auggie! At 9 years young, Auggie thought he already had his forever home.
This sweet Yorkie/Shih Tzu mix spent his entire life as the beloved companion of an elderly woman. Unfortunately, after a newer dog joined the household and the two weren't able to live together peacefully, the difficult decision was made to surrender Auggie to our rescue.
So after nine years of knowing nothing but life with his person, Auggie suddenly found himself starting over.
Understandably, he's a little confused about why his world changed. But in true Auggie fashion, he's handling it like the distinguished little gentleman he is and settling beautifully into his temporary home.
Auggie is, above all else, a companion dog. He loves affection, cuddles, and simply being near his person. He's an expert snuggler, an accomplished napper, and a connoisseur of comfy bolstered dog beds. If your idea of a perfect companion is a sweet little gentleman who wants to curl up nearby and keep you company, Auggie may be exactly who you've been looking for.
He's also happy to take his household security duties seriously. Auggie makes an excellent little alarm system and will happily let you know when someone new has arrived at the door. Once his responsibilities are fulfilled, he's more than willing to return to his regularly scheduled cuddling.
Auggie is potty trained, good on leash, and accustomed to living in a home. He's dog friendly, although he tends to prefer female dogs and more submissive males. He has lived with other dogs, but he certainly doesn't need a canine sibling to be happy. Auggie would be perfectly content as your one and only, soaking up all the attention for himself.
A little about Auggie:
9-year-young Yorkie/Shih Tzu mix
Potty trained, good on leash, and accustomed to home life
Dog friendly, with a preference for females and more submissive males
Up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm negative
Scheduled to be neutered in October
There is something particularly tender about a senior dog entering rescue after spending his entire life in a home.
Auggie hasn't spent nine years learning to survive on his own. He's spent nine years learning what it means to belong to someone. He knows soft beds, cuddles, companionship, and the comfort of having a person to call his own.
And we want desperately to give that back to him.
Auggie doesn't need much. Give him a comfortable bed, plenty of affection, someone to keep company, and the security of knowing that this time, home really does mean forever.
He's a sweet, distinguished little gentleman who has only ever known love, and we intend to make sure the rest of his life is absolutely full of it.
We're looking for Auggie's actual forever home—the one where he'll be doted on, spoiled rotten, snuggled endlessly, and loved for the rest of his days.
Apply to adopt Auggie at CRAPrescue.org/application.
Adoption process: After your phone screening, we can schedule a meet and greet/the start of your foster-to-adopt trial. All adoptions have a 2 week minimum foster-to-adopt trial to make sure that the pet is the right fit for your home, and vice versa. Auggie's adoption fee is $300, which would be due after the foster-to-adopt period. If you are located outside of Texas, we offer to-your-door transportation and have so many happy families as references. We are very transparent about the process so feel free to ask any questions.
