Meet Dottie! If pure innocence could be stuffed into a 1.5-year-old deaf Dogo Argentino mix, it would look a whole lot like Dottie.
This girl is an absolute bundle of sunshine. She is inquisitive, bouncy, playful, goofy, ridiculously social, and approaches life with the kind of enthusiasm that makes it impossible not to smile when she's around.
Dottie came to us looking very different from the snow-white beauty she is today. She was an almost hairless little medical mess, and we weren't entirely sure what had caused her skin to get so bad. But with a good diet, consistent flea prevention, regular baths, and some good old-fashioned TLC, her coat came back beautifully.
And now? She's downright gorgeous.
Thankfully, the difficult start to Dottie's life doesn't seem to have affected her opinion of the world whatsoever. As far as Dottie is concerned, everyone is a potential friend and every day is probably going to be the best day ever.
Dottie is supremely dog friendly. She LOVES other dogs and has a blast spending time at dog parks, hanging out on patios, and generally going anywhere that gives her an opportunity to socialize. We believe she is cat friendly as well, and she's been friendly and curious with our resident pigs and parrots.
This girl genuinely doesn't seem to have a mean bone in her body.
And then there's food.
Dottie would probably describe herself as a foodie. We would describe her more accurately as a garbage disposal.
She's not discerning. She's not here to discuss tasting notes. She's here to EAT.
Thankfully, her enthusiasm for snacks makes training this goofy girl a whole lot easier. Is she still a little rough around the edges? Sure. She's young, deaf, enthusiastic, and occasionally has more zest than manners. But she's incredibly food motivated, love motivated, and eager to engage with her people. Give this girl a little consistency and TLC, and we have no doubt she'll continue to blossom.
She's already got some pretty important skills under her belt. Dottie is perfectly crate trained, knows to potty outside, and is perfectly decent on a leash. Being deaf doesn't stop her from doing anything—it just means her family will need to communicate with her a little differently.
The Dottie rundown:
* 1.5-year-old deaf Dogo Argentino mix
* Supremely dog friendly, believed to be cat friendly, and friendly with our resident pigs and parrots
* Crate trained, house trained, and decent on leash
* Spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative
* Professional social butterfly, snack enthusiast, and all-around ray of sunshine
We would LOVE to see Dottie go to a home with another playful dog. She absolutely thrives on canine companionship, and having a buddy could be wonderful for her. That said, it isn't an absolute requirement. This is the kind of girl who is going to find something to love wherever she lands.
Dottie doesn't need perfection. She needs someone willing to polish up those remaining puppy manners, learn how to communicate with a deaf dog, keep the snacks coming, and let her be the gloriously goofy little ray of sunshine she was born to be.
She'll give you plenty in return.
Laughs. Adventures. Snuggles. Entertainment. Unwavering enthusiasm about dinner.
And a whole lot of love.
Dottie came to us nearly hairless and needing someone to give her a chance. Today, she's healthy, fluffy, happy, and ready for the part we've been waiting for:
A forever family to grow with and absolutely adore.
