Bandit may be laid-back, but he has a surprisingly theatrical streak. This 13-pound guy walks on his back legs, does little hops for treats, and will even “talk” and sing back to you by mimicking your sounds. And when the mood strikes, he can launch himself nearly five feet straight up — apparently hoping you’ll understand that the proper response is to catch him.

At one year old, Bandit is a Shih Tzu for adoption who loves being close to his people. Give him a good walk after breakfast and he’s content to spend much of the day hanging out beside you. At bedtime, he’ll happily burrow under your covers and put his head on the pillow, although a firm “no” sends him to his own bed.

Bandit enjoys other dogs but is equally comfortable soaking up your attention on his own. What he doesn’t enjoy is being alone for long stretches. He currently stays crated when no one is home, so a retiree, work-from-home adopter, or home with a canine buddy would suit him beautifully.
