APPLICATION IS REQUIRED BEFORE ANY ADOPTION CONSIDERED
Rescue groups often help those who have been become sick or hospitalized, if they have no where to turn. In this case a man was hospitalized that had 12 dogs. They had never been to a vet, never groomed or brushed and their fur was matted to the skin. In these cases we might post a few together, as the descriptions of their behaviors will be the same. In this case, more that one group divided up the pups, depending on number of fosters available. The attached dogs will all have individual personalities shine through their shut down behavior, but we try to get them into patient families so the progress can be achieved at a faster rate with individual attention. The dogs are all between 2 and 3 years old, all neutered males (Suffolk Humane has fully vetted the dogs) and all weigh between 11 and 13 pounds. It has taken 2 weeks for the first groom that had to be shaved to the skin and the rest combed out day by day. They have had one bath and are ready for another before going to adopters. They are adorable, will take much patience and we are working on potty training. Each day they are learning, but much more ground to cover. These dogs are far from perfect or nicely groomed (depending on where the severe matting was located), but time will heal most fears and fur will grow to be more manageable in the future.
Fenced yard is required and all will come with clip martingale collars do to sudden jumps. Most of the questions on the website will be answered as "I don't know" as they will be changing by the week. Circumstances can be made for a visit in your home with the current foster. Please understand that children under 10 may not be suitable for introduction to the dogs.
CALLS WILL ONLY BE MADE to those that have completed an application on Suffolk Humane's website. www.SuffolkHumaneSociety.com (under "Adopt") tab. Application, fee of $210, home visit and vet reference apply
