Finn - Shih Tzu and Havanese Dog for Adoption in Suffolk, Virginia

**APPLICATION REQUIRED BEFORE AN ADOPTION CAN BE CONSIDERED**

Meet Finn!

Finn is a sweet little 2-year-old neutered male who weighs approximately 12 pounds. He came to Suffolk Humane Society after his owner was hospitalized. Finn and several other dogs had lived without regular veterinary care or grooming, and their coats had become severely matted.

Suffolk Humane Society has fully vetted Finn and is giving him the care and attention he needs to begin a new chapter. His coat required extensive grooming to safely remove the severe matting, and portions had to be shaved close to the skin. As his coat grows back, regular grooming will help keep him comfortable and healthy.

Finn is still learning about the world around him and is adjusting to the many changes in his life. He can be cautious and reserved, particularly in unfamiliar situations, but he is beginning to learn that people can be trusted and that he is safe. As he becomes more comfortable, his individual personality will continue to shine through.

Finn is also working on potty training and will need an adopter who understands that this process will take patience and consistency. He is learning every day, and his progress will continue as he receives individual attention in a stable, predictable environment.

Finn would do best with an adopter who is willing to **let him set the pace as he builds confidence**. He is not a dog who should be rushed into new experiences. Instead, he needs someone who will celebrate the small victories, provide consistent routines, and give him the time he needs to understand that he is finally home.

A **securely fenced yard is required**, and Finn will go home with a clip-style martingale collar because he may make sudden movements when startled. Children under 10 may not be the best match for Finn, depending on the individual circumstances of the home.

Because Finn is still gaining confidence, some information about his behavior may change as he becomes more comfortable and his personality emerges. His foster family can provide the most current information about his progress. In some circumstances, a visit in the foster's home may be arranged to help determine whether Finn is a good match.

Finn has a lot to learn, but he also has a lot of life ahead of him. With patience, kindness, and a safe home, this little guy has the opportunity to discover just how wonderful life can be.**
