Shih Tzu Maltese Mix Male 3 Years Old 11.7 lbs Neutered

Bentley is a sweet, playful, and affectionate little dog looking for his forever home. He came into a municipal shelter severely matted and later discovered to have heartworm. Thanks to a second chance, Bentley completed treatment and is now heartworm negative and ready for a loving family.

Bentley loves people and wants to be part of everything his family does. He enjoys toys, walks, playing with other dogs, and simply spending time with his favorite humans. He has a fun, silly personality—playful when its time for fun and calm when its time to relax.

He is friendly with adults, children, dogs, and cats. Bentley is house-trained with pee pads and is a wonderful companion who enjoys being close to his people. While he is still learning that being picked up is safe, he loves cuddling next to his humans and seeking affection.

Bentley would thrive in a home where he can receive plenty of love, attention, and companionship. After everything he has been through, this sweet boy is ready for the forever family he deserves.

*Bentley is currently living in a foster home in Korea. Once he is adopted, he will be transported to the U.S. Because of this, we are unable to arrange in-person meet-and-greets. We are happy to provide detailed information, photos, and videos to help you get to know her.
* We do not recommend leaving dogs alone for more than 4 hours. If you expect to be away longer, we strongly encourage doggy daycare or another appropriate care option.
* We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 8 years old.
* Applicants must be at least 25 years old and live within a 45-minute driving distance of Springfield, Virginia (Northern Virginia and the Washington, DC suburbs only).
* A home check is required before adoption.
* Applicants must have a social media account so we can receive post-adoption updates. We monitor all adopted pets to ensure they continue to thrive.
* Once your application is approved, we will request a copy of your identification through a secure app and/or complete a background screening.

An HDP volunteer will contact you after carefully reviewing your application. Please allow a few days for the review process.

Many of our rescue dogs had very little socialization before entering our program. As a result, skills such as house training, leash walking, and adjusting to family life may take a little extra time. Patience, understanding, and gentle guidance are essential. The good news is that most of our dogs adapt remarkably well, and helping them blossom into confident family companions is an incredibly rewarding experience.
