Meet our oh-so-cute Georgie Porgie!
Sadly, Georgie was placed into our rescue when his owner passed away and the family members did not want him :(
Georgie is currently in a foster home (located in Houston) that he shares with another dog. He also is able to go on "playdates" with another small-breed dog that is located close to where Georgie is being fostered. As you can see from his video, Georgie LOVES playing with other dogs and is happy and thriving. Georgie is very well socialized and hasn't met a person who he isn't instantly smitten with. Here is a bit more about our spunky Georgie:

Shih Tzus are friendly, affectionate, lively, and compact companion dogs, known for their perky, happy temperaments. Originally bred for royalty, they are highly sociable, affectionate "lap dogs" that get along well with children and other pets, making them excellent family dogs or companion dogs.

Key Characteristics:

Temperament: Affectionate, confident, playful, and alert. They love to be with people and are not typically aggressive, but they can be stubborn and sometimes "clingy," often following owners from room to room.

Appearance: Their coat is long and dense, requiring frequent grooming.

Activity Level: Low to moderate. They are well-suited for apartment living, preferring indoor play and short daily walks over high-intensity exercise.

Trainability: Intelligent but often stubborn, requiring consistent training and positive reinforcement.

Barking: Can be moderate to high, often acting as alert, albeit very friendly, watchdogs.

Care Needs:
Grooming: High. Daily brushing is needed for long coats to prevent mats, while clipped coats need regular, though less frequent, grooming.

Exercise: A 30-minute walk or indoor playtime is usually sufficient.

Georgie is the epitome of a Shih tzu. He is very sociable, friendly and requires moderate activity. He will thrive best in a home that will have plenty of time to dedicate to him and with an owner who will take him out on daily walks. He will also require regular grooming.
