Hi, I’m Lady Stella, and I’m looking for my forever person!
I’m a 9-year-old, 15-pound little lady who is believed to be a Beagle/Terrier/Shih Tzu mix, although I prefer to think of myself as one of a kind. I have an adorable snaggle tooth, a constantly wagging tail, and a face that makes it pretty easy to tell how much I love you.
My foster mom says I’m sweet, adorable, and funny, and I think that sums me up pretty well!
I absolutely LOVE my people. I’m friendly when meeting new friends, although loud or overly enthusiastic people can make me a little cautious at first. Once I’m comfortable, you’ll find me happily hanging out right beside you. I’m not really a climb-all-over-you lap dog. I’m more of a “this spot next to you looks perfect” kind of girl. And yes, kisses are included.
I also love other dogs! I’m playful and enjoy running and chasing my foster siblings around the yard. I’m a gentle, submissive girl, so I’d be happiest with a canine friend who respects my softer personality and won’t push me around. I could also be perfectly happy as your one and only, as long as I get plenty of time with my humans.
Some of my very favorite things are walks and car rides. The second I realize we’re going for a walk, I’m one happy girl, and my tail pretty much wags the entire way. I’m wonderful on a leash and love meeting people along our route. I’ve even gone to an outdoor restaurant with my foster mom and behaved like a little pro. At home, I’m just as happy lying on the back porch watching the birds.
I’ve met a one-year-old child and did wonderfully, although I haven’t lived regularly with children. I haven’t met cats yet, so we can’t say for certain how I’d feel about them.
I’m still putting the finishing touches on my potty training. I’ve made wonderful progress, use pee pads, and do especially well when I have a consistent routine and regular walks. Oh, and I’ve discovered that sleeping in bed with my person seems to help too. Funny how that works.
I’ll need a securely fenced yard or to stay safely leashed outside, especially while I’m getting to know my new family. I’ve been known to take myself on an unauthorized adventure if a gate is left open, and until I know you well, I may not be convinced that coming back immediately was part of the plan.
I can stay home for a few hours while my foster mom works, but I’m happiest when I get to be part of someone’s life. Take me for walks. Let me ride along in the car. Invite me to the patio. Let me hang out beside you while you relax. I don’t need anything fancy. I just want to belong.
I’m spayed, up to date on my vaccines and preventatives, and I’m a pretty easy little girl to love. My terrier-like coat sheds a little and will need occasional trimming, especially around my adorable face. I’ve previously needed Apoquel for seasonal itchiness and currently get Zyrtec as needed for seasonal allergies.
One more thing you should know about me: sometimes when I really want your attention, I talk to you. I have things to say, after all.
My foster mom says the most lovable thing about me is the way I look at my people. She says you can see right on my face how much I love them.
Maybe someday soon, I’ll be looking at you that way.
Love,
Lady Stella
